  5. Priority admission will be given to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and Indigenous students who meet the eligibility criteria.

V. Quota and Scholarship/Grant Amount

  1. Quota: After compilation and recommendation by the University, 5 students per academic year will be awarded.

  2. Amount & duration:

    • Students may apply from the first through fourth academic year.

    • The scholarship/grant is NT$60,000 per year, with a maximum subsidy of 4 academic years (NT$240,000).

    • Service obligation: For each year of scholarship/grant received, the recipient must serve one year after graduation (e.g., two years of funding require two years of service).

    • The funded years must be continuous and may not be interrupted.

VI. Application Procedure

  1. Students shall apply through the Department of Long-Term Care at Asia University and submit required documents. The Department will review and recommend qualified applicants.

  2. Required documents:
    (1) Scholarship/Grant Application Form (Appendix 1)
    (2) Faculty Recommendation Form (Appendix 2)
    (3) One autobiography (about 1,000 words), including self-introduction and career planning
    (4) Academic transcript for the previous semester/year, including practicum grades and conduct/behavior grades
    (5) If applicable, proof of low-income status or Indigenous status

VII. Review and Disbursement

  1. Application materials should be mailed to the Hospital’s Department of Nursing. After preliminary review by the Department of Nursing and final approval by the Hospital, an official letter will be sent to the University notifying the recommendation results.

  2. Once approved, the Hospital’s Human Resources Office will send a service contract to the applicant. After the applicant signs and returns the contract, the scholarship/grant will be remitted to the student’s bank account. The amount will be included in the recipient’s annual personal income for tax reporting.

VIII. Obligations and Service Requirements

  1. During enrollment, students must comply with school regulations and maintain good conduct and academic performance.

  2. During enrollment, the University should arrange practicums at Asia University Hospital as much as possible; practicum units will be assigned by the Department of Nursing.

  3. If, during enrollment, a recipient’s average academic grade falls below 75 or conduct/behavior grade falls below 80, the contract will be terminated and the recipient must return all scholarship/grant funds received.

  4. After graduation, recipients must report to work at the assigned hospital campus within 30 days after graduation (no later than the Hospital’s latest reporting date). They must fulfill the service obligation corresponding to the scholarship/grant amount received. The service period starts from the day after passing probation, must be continuous, and may not be completed in segments unless otherwise approved for special reasons by the Foundation.

  5. Recipients must obtain a Care Service Technician (care attendant) certificate, or at minimum complete care attendant training and pass the evaluation to receive a completion certificate. If the recipient still does not possess either credential by the required reporting date, they must repay all scholarship/grant funds in a lump sum.

  6. After graduation, recipients must accept assignment to any of the Hospital’s designated campuses (including Asia University Fengyuan Hospital and its affiliated private Fengyuan Integrated Long-Term Care Institution). Recipients must agree to work mainly as care attendants on a three-shift rotation, without objection.

  7. If a recipient takes a leave of absence, delays graduation, or is dismissed from the University—thus being unable to report on the scheduled date—they must notify the Hospital in writing within one month of the occurrence and repay all scholarship/grant funds received.

    • If the delay is due to military service or other reasons not attributable to the recipient, they must apply in writing for a deferred reporting date and may report only after receiving approval; otherwise it will be deemed a breach of contract requiring full repayment.

  8. Failure to report for duty without a valid reason constitutes a breach of contract and requires repayment of the full scholarship/grant amount. If a recipient resigns during the service period, or is dismissed for violating this contract, the Hospital’s employment contract, or applicable regulations, it is also deemed a breach. The recipient must repay the scholarship/grant proportionally to the unfulfilled service period.
