This newly launched “Long-Term Care Taiwanese” course is designed around the most common communication needs in long-term care settings. It covers key scenarios step by step—from greetings and explaining procedures at the start of care, to checking physical conditions and needs, and providing safety reminders during transfers, vital-sign measurements, and meals. The course gradually builds practical Taiwanese phrases that learners can use immediately, emphasizing communication that is “short, clear, easy to understand, and truly applicable.” Rather than relying on rote memorization, instruction is delivered through scenario-based activities, instructor demonstrations, and guided repetition, enabling learners to practice speaking in class and refine their delivery on the spot.

To boost motivation and speaking fluency, the course also incorporates Taiwanese songs and riddle-guessing activities. Singing helps learners practice pronunciation, rhythm, and language “feel,” making it easier to grasp the natural pace of common expressions. Riddles are then woven into the lesson to encourage active use of vocabulary and sentence patterns, strengthening real-time response and expression through interaction. Combined with guided questioning and structured practice segments, teacher–student interaction increases noticeably, creating a more dynamic classroom environment and bringing learning closer to real long-term care communication situations. Overall, as a first-time offering, this course stands out for its “practical + interactive” approach, making Taiwanese learning more concrete, easier to apply, and better aligned with the communication demands of care work.
