The Department of Long-Term Care at Asia University held a campus guest lecture titled “A Comparison of Long-Term Care Systems in Taiwan and Japan: Cross-National Experience and Future Challenges” on October 30, 2024, in Room L010. The department invited Ms. Ko Meng-Shih, Operations Director of Green Garden Health Services Co., Ltd., to guide students in understanding the differences between the two countries’ long-term care systems from the perspective of policy and system design.
The lecture offered an in-depth comparison of Taiwan and Japan across key dimensions such as institutional frameworks, resource allocation, and policy evolution. Through cross-national analysis, students were able to map out the development trajectories and core distinctions of long-term care in both countries, and to further recognize the challenges and possible directions for future policy advancement and practical innovation amid rapid population aging.
