The Department of Long-Term Care at Asia University recently held a career development lecture titled “Introduction to Caregiver Internships, Practical Training, and Examinations.” The department invited Ms. Chen Ying-Ching, Vice Chairperson of the National Care Service Alliance and the Care Quality Promotion Association, to help students understand the training process and certification pathway for care service workers.

The lecture began with an overview of internship settings and job responsibilities, then moved on to key areas of hands-on training. These included essential caregiving skills, safe transfers and protection techniques, daily living support, and communication ethics, enabling students to grasp the core competencies required before entering long-term care practice.

The speaker also provided a comprehensive explanation of examination regulations and test formats for caregiver certification, covering eligibility requirements, the focus of practical and written tests, common scoring criteria, and preparation strategies. She reminded students to strengthen their practice in skill proficiency, caregiving procedures, and on-site problem-solving.

Through the sharing of real-world experience and detailed exam guidance, students gained a clearer direction for their internships and were better prepared to enter the long-term care workforce and obtain professional certification.
