The Department of Long-Term Care at Asia University recently led faculty and students on a visit to China Medical University Hospital to learn from the “silent mentors” (body donors). Through guided tours and professional briefings, students gained first-hand understanding of the body donation process and observed human anatomy and organ distribution, strengthening the foundational knowledge of the body and disease that is essential for future long-term care practice.
Beyond anatomy learning, the visit also served as a profound lesson in life education. The donors’ selfless contribution helped students reflect on the importance of respecting life, gratitude, and caregiving ethics. This experience is expected to support students in providing more professional and empathetic care when they later work with older adults and accompany patients at the end of life.
